Environmental Minister Bans Cell Towers in Tiger Habitats; Issues Other Guidelines to Protect Wildlife from Radiation Exposure

The Indian Environment Ministry has issued strict guidelines regarding cell towers in tiger critical habitat across the country. While providing connectivity to the people residing within or near wildlife-rich areas, “the protection and conservation of wildlife habitats should not be affected” by such installations.

This decision comes in the wake of a growing number of proposals for cell towers in wildlife areas such as national parks, sanctuaries, tiger reserves, and corridors. However cell towers emit RF radiation well associated with a broad range of harmful health effects in animals.

DNA and Developmental Damage from Cell Towers on the Greek Island of Samos: Effects on Insects, Flowers and Vegetables

A recent paper, ‘Human‑made electromagnetic fields: Ion forced‑oscillation and voltage‑gated ion channel dysfunction, oxidative stress and DNA damage (Review)” published in the International Journal of Oncology by biophysicist Dimitris J. Panagopoulos et al., states unequivocally that electromagnetic radiation from wireless technology damages DNA.

This leads to infertility, sterility, mutations and extinctions, and it explains the loss of biodiversity that we are currently experiencing on this planet.

Nearly All UES 5G Towers Cancelled After Historic Preservation Review

A recent ruling by the New York State Historic Preservation Office means that only one of the 18 proposed LinkNYC 5G towers could remain as an active possibility, according to officials and a map built by the LinkNYC vendor, CityBridge.

The kiboshed towers met their demise through a mix of site-specific compatibility issues and failing a federally mandated historic preservation review on the impact the gigantic 5G transmission poles — conceived as part of a city plan to expand internet access across the Big Apple —would have on the Upper East Side’s historic districts.

RWA Urges FCC to Change 5G Fund

The Rural Wireless Association wants some areas that are supported by the FCC’s Universal Service Fund (USF) to be excluded from the 5G Fund of Rural America’s upcoming reverse auction. The point is to free up funding for areas that are at high risk of losing that support, notes Broadband Breakfast.

RWA representatives told FCC officials that current 5G Fund rules would “disaggregate” high-cost USF support in certain areas, potentially leaving “legacy mobile carriers’ investments in their networks stranded.”

U.S. NTP Quits RF Promised Studies on Mechanisms Never Done

The U.S. National Toxicology Program (NTP) has closed down its RF radiation research program. Indeed, it appears that work effectively stopped some time ago.

In September 2019, the NTP announced a new project designed to explain how RF radiation causes cancer. It was a year after the NTP made international headlines with its $30 million study showing “clear evidence” that RF caused malignant tumors in rats.

Why did NIH abruptly halt research on the harms of cell phone radiation?

In a shocking reversal, the National Toxicology Program (NTP) of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences has quietly disclosed that it will stop studying the biological or environmental impacts of cell phone radiofrequency radiation.

This decision comes despite results from the program’s carefully engineered and reviewed decade-long $30 million animal studies that found cancer, heart damage and DNA damage associated with exposure to cell phone radiofrequency radiation at levels comparable to those experienced by Americans today.

Finally a great opt out ‘Smart Meter’ bill for New York State!

There is some good news in this new year! Finally, a truly great ‘smart meter’ opt out bill for New York State!

There have been efforts since 2013 to pass a bill that prevents the forcible installations of digital “smart” utility meters, and removes penalties for those who want to hang onto their trusted analog meters. You can see Les Jamieson’s article in WestView News for a great history of all the shenanigans.

Digital meters use pulsed RF radiation to operate and transmit consumer usage information wirelessly, which exposes residents to chronic, unnecessary radiation that has caused physical harm to many who have had them installed. Non-transmitting digital meters also pose problems, due to the dirty electricity created.

Cell phones emitted far too much radiation for decades – until today?

Just a few years ago, the so-called Phonegate revelations showed that the radiation emitted by mobile devices is inadequately controlled. With the exception of the Observer (paywall), no media in this country has reported on this in depth.

The extent to which radiation from mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets affects the human body is measured using the so-called SAR value. This determines the energy absorbed at a specific part of the body by measuring the temperature on the skin.

The National Toxicology Program of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences announced it will no longer study the effects of radio frequency radiation

The National Toxicology Program announced this month through an updated fact sheet that it no longer plans to study the effects of cell phone or radio frequency radiation (RFR) due to technical challenges and lack of resources.

The NTP, the only Federal agency in the US to study the effects of RFR since the 1990s (after the Congress cut off the EPA’s funding for this research), updated its cell phone radiation fact sheet this month to announce that it lacks the resources to continue to study the effects of radio frequency radiation.

EMF/RF/5G Tale of Two Cities: CT Standing Up for the Community vs. Massachusetts AGO Favoring Telecom?

In A Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens wrote, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us….”

In another age of incredulity, voters and consumers are recognizing unfolding harm and violations of human rights and community rights resulting from nearly thirty years of inadequate telecommunication regulation that systematically ignores risks to health and the environment.

Engaged, respectful, informed activism is building, in the Commonwealth and beyond.

Who will be on the right side of history?

CHD Files First in Series of Lawsuits Seeking Disability Accommodation for People Injured by RF Radiation from Cell Towers

Press Release

For Immediate Release

Strategic cases pursue relief under Americans with Disabilities Act

Washington, D.C. – Children’s Health Defense’s (CHD) lead Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR) and Wireless litigator Scott W. McCollough filed a complaint today against Verizon and other wireless companies on behalf of disabled plaintiff Henry “Hank” Allen. The complaint, filed in the United States District Court for the District of Idaho Southern Division, is the first in a series of strategic cases seeking the removal or modification of cell towers in the vicinity of the homes of individuals disabled by radiofrequency (RF) radiation, in order to provide reasonable accommodation or modifications as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

According to the complaint, Mr. Allen has a disability as defined in the ADA. His condition is exacerbated by RF radiation emitted from cell towers. In 2014, while living in California, Mr. Allen was diagnosed with Electromagnetic Sensitivity (EMS). He moved with his family from California to rural Idaho in 2017 in order to minimize his RF radiation exposure. In April 2021, shortly after the Defendants turned on a new cell tower approximately 660 yards from his home, Mr. Allen’s health took a dramatic downturn.

According to the complaint, “In his own home Plaintiff lives and works in constant fear for his health and his very life, because Defendants’ RF radiation is ongoing, repeated and continuing as Defendants refuse to recognize the federal disability laws that would solve the conflict.”

The complaint alleges that the Defendants are attempting to circumvent federal disability laws — including the ADA — by operating cell towers and antennas in close proximity to individuals with disabilities despite research linking RF radiation exposure to worsening health conditions in this population and refusing to provide reasonable accommodation or modification.

“Hank is determined to not let the telecom companies do this to his family or yours,” said McCollough. “This is actually a civil rights case, offering a legal theory under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Federal courts must apply federal disability laws to protect people disabled by RF radiation coming from cell towers. If Hank’s case is successful, the court will either remove the tower, or otherwise order the telecom defendants to modify their operations in order to not so intensively beam RF radiation through Hank’s home so he can live in peace.”

ICNIRP Revamp: Closer Ties to WHO EMF Project

In November, the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) elected a new chair, vice chair and seven new Commissioners to join the remaining five. The new lineup takes over in mid-July 2024.

Yet, despite all the changes, ICNIRP’s outlook and policies are expected to remain much the same. While two medical doctors will be joining the Commission —there are none now— the membership will continue to be dominated by physicists and electrical engineers. ICNIRP’s entrenched thermal dogma will most likely continue to hold sway with cancer risks, and other non-thermal effects downplayed, when not dismissed outright.

SpaceX & Mars & Explosions & Injuries: It’s Not Just Where We’re Going, It’s How We Get There and Who Pays the Price

“We’ve arranged a global civilization, which… profoundly depend(s) on science and technology. We’ve also arranged things so that almost no one understands science and technology. This is a recipe for disaster. We might get away with it for a while, but sooner or later this combustible mixture of ignorance and power is going to blow up in our faces.” – Carl Sagan

On November 6, Americans heard optimistic news reports that “SpaceX’s Starship Rocket Could Fly Again in the Coming Weeks.” Gizmodo reported, “SpaceX is preparing to launch its Starship rocket for the second time, aiming for mid-November for another flight test of its launch vehicle after the first one didn’t go so well. It’s been over six months since Starship lifted off for the very first time, a problematic debut that has kept the rocket grounded since then. But now SpaceX claims that the second test flight of its megarocket could launch as early as mid-November, “pending regulatory approval.”

The age of mmWave 5G sputters to a dusty death

It’s time to blow out the mmWave candle following an OpenSignal report showing that the average time most users spend on mmWave 5G is less than 1%, three years into the rollout of the technology.

According to OpenSignal, the average mobile user in the US today connects to a millimeter wave (mmWave) 5G network less than 1% of the time. That figure is true for Verizon, which has positioned mmWave 5G at the center of its “ultra wideband” nationwide marketing message for years, as well as T-Mobile, which has made barely a mention of mmWave 5G.

Paul Brodeur The Original Microwave Pioneer

In the summer of 2012, Paul Brodeur sent me an email that began, “Don’t forget that when I croak, you’re supposed to give some credit to me as the original microwave pioneer.” I came across it in my files after learning that Brodeur had died on August 2nd at the age of 92. It was among his many letters, notes and clippings I had stashed away over the last 50 years.

The story begins on a rainy fall afternoon in 1977 at the New York office of the Natural Resources Defense Council, a public-interest environmental law firm, where I was working at the time. Brodeur, then a star investigative reporter at The New Yorker, came by with copies of his new book, The Zapping of America, an exposé on the dangers of microwave radiation and how they were being covered up.

Why the first-ever space junk fine is such a big deal

On Monday, October 2, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the US issued its first fine for space debris, ordering the US TV provider Dish to pay $150,000 for failing to move one of its satellites into a safe orbit.

“It is definitely a very big symbolic moment for debris mitigation,” says Michelle Hanlon, a space lawyer at the University of Mississippi. “It’s a great step in the right direction.”

But it might be more than just a symbolic gesture by the FCC. Not only does it set a precedent for tackling bad actors who leave dangerous junk orbiting Earth, but it could send shock waves through the industry as other satellite operators become wary of having their reputation tarnished.
