Children’s Health Defense (CHD) CEO Mary Holland and Chief Scientific Officer Brian Hooker, Ph.D., were featured authors in the latest edition of The New American magazine.

Holland wrote on the topic of the fusion of Big Pharma and Big Government while Hooker’s article — which he co-authored with CHD Science and Research Analyst Heather Ray — addressed the devasting impacts of childhood vaccines.

‘The Fusion of Pharma and State’

Holland traced events surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, including vaccine mandates and lockdowns.

She said three main problems “enabled the Covid horrors”:

  1. Lack of liability for the pharmaceutical industry.
  2. Censorship.
  3. Fusion of state and pharma.

“We must reverse these problems if we are to be free,” Holland wrote.

She cited evidence that the narrative around COVID-19 is shifting — for instance, The New York Times on May 3, 2024, acknowledged vaccine harms on its front page for the first time.

Holland suggested that “a new era is dawning in which deep and radical changes are both necessary and possible.” Fixing the three problems she identified is necessary for bringing about that new dawn.

Holland explained how the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986, which protected Big Pharma from liability in the event of vaccine-induced injury or death, created a “gold rush” in the pharmaceutical industry.

Vaccines are not only liability-free but when states and schools mandate them — as many did during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond — pharma companies don’t even have to spend money marketing them.

This merger between the government and the pharmaceutical industry must stop, she said.

So must the censorship of those who speak out against it.

Holland also noted that the Nuremberg Code — written after many medical atrocities in Nazi concentration camps were committed in the name of vaccine research — should have made compulsory COVID-19 vaccination impermissible.

The code’s first principle states that “the consent of the individual is absolutely essential.”

But governments and the medical establishment “jettisoned” informed consent during the pandemic — “and serious global efforts are underway to eradicate the very notion of informed consent.”

Doing away with informed consent is at the core of the World Health Organization’s proposed pandemic preparedness treaty, Holland said.

‘Devasting Impacts of Childhood Vaccines’

In their article, Hooker and Ray cited numerous scientific studies showing significant harm following childhood vaccinations.

They pointed out that the U.S. childhood vaccination schedule now includes up to 78 vaccine doses to be given during the first 18 years of life — more than triple what was included in 1982 before Congress passed the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986.

Vaccine sales can be as high as $7 billion per year — but that money likely isn’t spent on thoroughly testing a potential vaccine to ensure its safety.

“Contrary to common belief,” Hooker and Ray said, “vaccine manufacturers do not use true saline placebos in their clinical trials.”

Meanwhile, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have refused to compare the health outcomes of unvaccinated children to those inoculated with one or more vaccines.

The FDA and CDC also have never compared the health outcomes of children who received all CDC-recommended childhood vaccines with those who did not.

“We are grateful for independent researchers,” Hooker and Ray wrote, “who continue to investigate these issues despite lack of funding, marginalization, and outright persecution.”

For example, a researcher in 2017 found that partially and fully vaccinated kids ages 6-12 were much more likely to receive a chronic disease diagnosis — such as allergies,

allergic rhinitis, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder or ADHD, autism, eczema, learning disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders — than unvaccinated kids.

Three years later, Hooker and Neil Z. Miller, Ph.D., affirmed these findings in a peer-reviewed study. The study found that fully and partially vaccinated kids had a significantly higher risk of receiving a diagnosis for developmental delay, ear infections, gastrointestinal disorders and asthma than unvaccinated kids.

Hooker and Ray said it was “extremely unfortunate” that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services — which includes the FDA and CDC — will not acknowledge the harm done by the vaccination schedule or the individual vaccines on the schedule.

Ray and Hooker also cited studies showing that vaccines given to pregnant women were linked to poorer health outcomes in their infants.

For instance, studies showed that women who receive the Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccine during pregnancy are at increased risk of postpartum hemorrhage, stillbirth and serious adverse reactions.

Additional studies showed that women who received the Tdap vaccine during pregnancy also were at an increased risk of chorioamnionitis — a bacterial infection within the amniotic cavity that can cause preterm birth.

“Unfortunately, the CDC disregarded these findings and simply recommended giving the vaccine in the third trimester instead of the first or second trimesters,” Hooker and Ray wrote.

The authors also discussed how mercury and aluminum in vaccines are associated with poor health outcomes.
