Huanjia Zhang is a reporting intern for Environmental Health News (EHN) and a graduate journalism student at NYU's Science, Health and Environmental Reporting program. At EHN, Huanjia unearths stories on how the environment is impacting people from all walks of life. He covers issues from toxics to environmental justice and to food and agriculture inequalities. Huanjia was born and raised in Yantai, a cozy city on China's northeast coast. Before becoming a journalist, Huanjia was a scientist, researching the human microbiome at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Trading his pipettes for pens, Huanjia hopes to make the world a cleaner, safer and more just place with his reporting.
