The latest episode of CHD.TV’s “The Empower Hour” with host Zen Honeycutt featured two experts on natural healing — Mari Marques, a certified herbalist, and Lisa Jendza, co-founder of Freedom Kitchen and Freedom Kitchen Kids, an educational food ministry” that develops new and healthy food programs.

Marques, owner of The Thymekeeper herb shop in Colorado, said her favorite immune-boosting herbs include dandelion, elderberry and all the kitchen herbs: garlic, onion, cinnamon and ginger.

She and Honecutt discussed how to prepare herbs and how people use them for detox, prevention and elimination of illness.

“Season change is the perfect time to start working on your immune boosting system because it’s always an open door for illness,” Marques said.

Jendza shared advice on how to boost children’s immune systems, including common-sense ideas on food as medicine and cooking tips for children, including picky eaters.

Jendza, whose Freedom Kitchen website reads: “The secret to happiness is freedom and the secret to freedom is courage,” said:

“I realized many of us had limiting beliefs due to conditioning and programming — that there was another expert outside of us … looking outside of ourselves limits our freedom.”

She shared the story of her own health crisis, and how she learned to naturally detox by going inward for answers, starting with the toxic products in her home and environment.

“The important thing to know about detoxification is that your body detoxifies itself,” Jendza said. “There’s nothing that detoxifies you.”

On Honeycutt’s regular food news segment, Carol Grieve of Food Integrity Now said organic food consumption has gone up in the “double digits” during the pandemic and U.S. hospitals are growing their own produce for hospital meals.

Also on the show, Honeycutt interviewed Hilda Labrada Gore, a certified integrative nutrition health coach who hosts the “Wise Traditions” podcast.

Labrada Gore told the story of a village in Ecuador that was hit with an outbreak of COVID infections. Villagers beat COVID with local herbs and medicinal plants. “Nobody was hospitalized and not a single person died,” she said.
