    Meet the Speakers

    Rick Jaffe

    Rick Jaffe, Esq.

    Lawyer

    Rick Jaffe litigates cutting-edge medico-legal and constitutional rights cases. He works with doctors and groups across the US on cancer, stem cell, supplements, BHRT, standard of care, medical mandates, and Covid misinformation cases.

    He graduated from Columbia Law School (Law Review). He received his BA at Hebrew University of Jerusalem (with honors and a prize for academic excellence in the History and Philosophy of Science).

    Rick is also the author of Galileo’s Lawyer and has a health law blog at www.rickjaffe.com.
    His landmark cases and notable results include:

    • Established express assumption of risk defense for non-standard of care treatment in medical malpractice. (Galileo’s Lawyer Ch 1)
    • Initiated/organized/testified at the first congressional hearings on access to experimental treatments. Congressional and media work led to compassionate use exception, the precursor of the “right to try” GL 2
    • Injunction obtained, forcing the FDA and MD Anderson to continue experimental tx for terminal patients after clinical hold. GL 4
    • First RICO case against state fraud investigators for intimidation and extortion of practitioners, consent agreement/legal fees obtained. GL 6
    • Defense counsel on the first FDA criminal investigation of a stem cell clinic. Investigation dropped, no charges. Related board standard of care investigation also dropped. GL 9
    • Injunction obtained reversing a secret merger of a supplement-friendly nutrition organization by a larger pharma-controlled group.
    • Criminal defense counsel for an autism clinic being investigated by a federal grand jury for insurance fraud related to genetic testing. Investigation dropped without charges.
    • First post-covid mandate lawsuit against a university (UC). No injunction, but UC was forced to allow student religious exemptions; other universities followed.
    • Filed the first lawsuit against a medical board for unconstitutional investigation relating to physician pubic speech challenging the mainstream COVID narrative. Investigation terminated (as were all other pending similar investigations).
    • Obtained a preliminary injunction for CHD and PIC doctors against Cali. AB 2098 (COVID Misinformation law). (Case pending)
    • First-ever judicial stay of a medical board prosecution. First Amendment case involving alleged COVID misinformation arising from retired doctor’s newspaper columns. (Case pending)
