Alarmed by a frightening rise in the number of children diagnosed with autism, Dr. Elizabeth Mumper has long been devoted to spreading what she sees as the only answer to stemming the tide of this epidemic — integrative medicine. Graduating from Bridgewater College in general science, and furthering her education through the Medical College of Virginia and the University of Virginia, Dr. Mumper has gone on to found and serve as president and CEO of The Rimland Center For Integrative Medicine, an innovative autism focused health center. Within this center, she operates two practices: Advocates for Children Pediatrics, dedicated to natural alternatives of pediatric treatment, and Advocates for Families, which specializes in biomedical treatments of developmental disorders. Dr. Mumper has also conducted clinical research at the Rimland Center, yielding five peer reviewed articles in as many years. Dr. Mumper’s past work includes serving as director of pediatric education at the Lynchburg Family Practice Residency Program and as medical director of the Autism Research Institute. Recognized for her influential work in her field, Dr. Mumper has lectured across the world, mentoring physicians and teaching many about autism related disorders.
