Support the NIH Reform Act!

Contact your legislators today and urge them to support the NIH Reform Act to ensure greater NIH accountability.

On March 23, Sen. Rand Paul and Rep. Chip Roy introduced the NIH Reform Act “to eliminate Dr. Anthony Fauci’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and replace it with three separate national research institutes that would be led by directors subject to Senate confirmation and limited to no more than two 5-year terms.”

Having directors with term limits at three new institutes would dismantle the power structure that allowed Dr. Anthony Fauci to retain his position for 38 years. The institutes proposed in the bill are:

  • National Institute of Allergic Diseases
  • National Institute of Infectious Diseases
  • National Institute of Immunologic Diseases

Sen. Paul explains how the bill would restrict the amount of power presently held by a select few. “We’ve learned a lot over the past few years, but one lesson, in particular, is that no one person should be deemed ‘dictator-in-chief.’ No one person should have unilateral authority to make decisions for millions of Americans. To ensure that ineffective, unscientific lockdowns and mandates are never foisted on the American people ever again, I’ve introduced this bill to eliminate Dr. Anthony Fauci’s previous position as Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and divide the role into three separate new institutes. This will create accountability and oversight into a taxpayer funded position that has largely abused its power and has been responsible for many failures and misinformation during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Too much power in too few hands results in people like Dr. Anthony Fauci brazenly proclaiming that criticism of him is “dangerous” because “I represent science. They’re really criticizing science because I represent science.”

Rep. Chip Roy introduced an identical version of the bill in the U.S. House, cosponsored by Reps. Mary Miller, Paul Gosar, Ronny Jackson, Harriet Hageman, Lauren Boebert, Andy Biggs, Eric Burlison, Matt Rosendale, Josh Brecheen, Anna Paulina Luna, Dan Bishop, Matt Gaetz, Greg Steube, Lance Gooden and Bob Good. The Senate legislation is currently cosponsored by Sens. Mike Lee, Marsha Blackburn, Mike Braun and Josh Hawley.

Contact your legislators today and urge them to support the NIH Reform Act to hold the NIH accountable for what goes on in its agencies and improve the oversight of people and institutions charged with preserving public health that we, as taxpayers, fund.
