Principal Attorney at the Gibson Law Firm, PLLC

Sujata Gibson is a part time law professor at Cornell Law School, and the principal attorney at the Gibson Law Firm, PLLC, a boutique civil rights firm with a focus on constitutional law, medical freedom and protest defense. Bringing her background as a former union organizer into her work as a litigator, Gibson successfully represented many movements and has been a long-time advocate for medical and religious freedom. Since 2020, she has partnered with Children’s Heath Defense (CHD) to represent and protect the medical rights of the under-served in high-profile cases in New York City and state-wide. Currently, she is the lead attorney on two federal lawsuits challenging vaccine mandates in New York City, which resulted in an order from the 2nd Circuit granting injunctive relief and requiring the city to change its religious accommodation policies. She also served as lead attorney in a Children’s Health Defense supported lawsuit successfully challenging New York State employee mask mandates and in ongoing litigation challenging New York’s restrictions on medical exemptions and vaccine mandates for healthcare workers. Gibson holds a juris doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and a bachelor of arts from Wesleyan University.
