Grace van Deelen

Grace van Deelen is a reporting intern for Environmental Health News, covering plastic pollution, environmental justice and mental health. She's also a graduate student in the science writing program at MIT, where she's been writing about the Line 5 oil pipeline, marine mammal genetics and threats facing wild rice in Minnesota, among other topics. Grace grew up in Wisconsin and spent her undergraduate years in the Boston area, studying biology and anthropology. After researching coffee plants in Costa Rica and honey bees in the Midwest, she realized she'd rather be writing about the environment than studying it, and she's excited to hone her skills at Environmental Health News.
