Last week’s episode of the Children’s Health Defense (CHD) “Community Corner” featured Mary Holland, CHD president and general counsel, who shared important legal updates.
The segment began with breaking news that a judge in New York granted an injunction in a lawsuit against New York’s COVID vaccine mandate for healthcare workers, and the state’s discontinuation of religious exemptions.
The court order prohibits the New York State Department of Health from requiring employers to deny or revoke religious exemptions for the vaccine.
Previously, New York’s health department issued an order requiring all healthcare workers to be vaccinated against COVID by Sept. 27. Many healthcare workers opposed the mandate due to their faith-based beliefs.
This is the first major breakthrough case since states began mandating vaccines for healthcare workers. The news came at a critical time, immediately following President Biden’s address to the nation announcing sweeping and unprecedented mandates on more than 80 million citizens.
Holland also discussed the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) “bait and switch” approval of Pfizer’s new Comirnaty formula.
Holland outlined the details of the lawsuit filed by CHD, alleging the FDA violated federal law by simultaneously issuing a license to Pfizer’s Comirnaty COVID vaccine while extending the Emergency Use Authorization for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
CHD sued the FDA, Holland said, to protect Americans’ constitutional freedoms, right to bodily autonomy and right to decline vaccination.
Holland also discussed the coercion taking place among U.S. citizens, and especially military members.
