Send a Comment in Support of CDC Establishing ICD-10-CM Codes for COVID Vaccine Injury

Contact the CDC today and ask the agency to establish a dedicated medical diagnostic code for COVID vaccine injury.

April 6, 2026

ICD-10-CM is a standardized classification system of diagnosis codes that represents conditions, diseases, and related health problems. The system is used for medical claim reporting in all healthcare settings. Currently, no specific ICD-10-CM code exists for adverse effects following COVID-19 vaccination. This has led to widespread miscoding, under-recognition, and difficulty in tracking, researching, and treating these conditions.

At the March 17–18 ICD-10-CM Coordination and Maintenance Committee Meeting, the National Center for Health Statistics introduced a proposal to establish a dedicated ICD-10-CM diagnostic code, T50.B25, specific to adverse effects of COVID-19 shots. The historic proposal, initiated at the request of the COVID vaccine-injury awareness organization React19, has now entered a 60-day public comment phase that ends on May 15, 2026.

As of March 27, 2026, there have been 1,675,590 reports submitted to the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) following COVID vaccination, yet no diagnostic code has been implemented to ensure that these adverse events are being appropriately addressed by clinicians, researchers, and public health officials.

Contact the CDC today and ask the agency to implement T50.B25. This is the only way we can ensure that adverse reactions to COVID shots are accurately documented and researched, and that those who have suffered adverse events can receive appropriate treatments once they are established.
