    Urgent Action Alert: Tell ACIP — We’re Watching You: Keep the COVID-19 Vaccine Off the Childhood Schedule

    ACIP could potentially make recommendations regarding our children that may have devastating impacts on children’s health.

    The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) on Oct. 19 and 20, will meet to discuss the safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines in pregnant women, infants and children.

    When drafting public comments, let committee members know that we are watching. Leverage data from published medical journals and our cited and referenced letter that RFK Jr. sent to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in June, prior to when they granted EUAs allowing for infants and young children to receive Pfizer’s and Moderna’s COVID-19 shots.

    CHD.TV will provide live-stream coverage of the ACIP meeting along with live blogging from Dr. Meryl Nass. According to the CDC, members of the public can submit comments to ACIP online or can provide an oral public comment during the meeting. Written comments must be received by Oct. 20, 2022 and identified by Docket No. CDC-2022-0111 using the Federal eRulemaking Portal.

    It’s imperative that we take action to remind ACIP members of the health risks associated with these vaccines when given to children and that we are watching them.

    According to the CDC’s website, the information reviewed by ACIP for each vaccine includes the following:

    • “The safety and effectiveness of the vaccine when given at specific ages. Only vaccines licensed or authorized by FDA are recommended, and vaccine manufacturers must conduct rigorous studies to show that a vaccine is safe and effective at specific ages.
    • The severity of the disease. Vaccines recommended for children and adults prevent diseases that can be serious, potentially causing long-term health problems or death.
    • The number of people who get the disease if there is no vaccine. Vaccines that do not provide benefit to many people may not be recommended for everyone.
    • How well a vaccine works for people of different ages. The immune response from a vaccine can vary depending on the age when the vaccine is given.
    • How practical the recommendations are to put into practice. Factors that can impact the feasibility of implementing a vaccine recommendation can also be considered.”

    The meeting agenda for the upcoming meeting does not state what ACIP will be voting on, but let’s communicate our concerns for the potential of any COVID-19 vaccines being added to the schedule — at any time — which would shield pharmaceutical companies from the harms caused by their COVID-19 vaccines.

    Any recommendation for children to receive these shots is a clear and blatant disregard for the current science. The risks demonstrably outweigh the benefits of COVID-19 vaccination in children. Vaccines authorized for emergency use are not permitted to be recommended to the childhood schedule.
