Protect the National Radio Quiet Zone - Stop Harmful Cell Towers Expansion in Green Bank, West Virginia

► Donate Today to Preserve and Expand RF Protections in Green Bank, West Virginia

Residents of Green Bank, West Virginia, are working to preserve one of the few remaining radiofrequency (RF) free places in the country — the National Radio Quiet Zone — from encroaching wireless radiation. The National Radio Quiet Zone is a 13,000-square-mile area established in 1958 to limit RF emissions and protect the Green Bank Observatory’s sensitive research — it also serves as a refuge for people suffering from Electromagnetic Radiation Syndrome (EMR-S).

This region is a sanctuary for human and environmental health, and its protection is critical. Residents are working to draft amendments to West Virginia Code § 37A-1, the “Radio Astronomy Zoning Act,” to strengthen statutory restrictions on RF emissions within a 10-mile radius of the Green Bank Observatory. This legislative effort seeks to protect the property and liberty interests of local residents, uphold environmental integrity, and preserve the Quiet Zone’s unique refuge from harmful wireless exposure.

Green Bank residents have launched a strong legal and community initiative to protect the Quiet Zone and have engaged legal representation through Children’s Health Defense’s Stop5G.org initiative.
