- Amazon’s latest proposed acquisition in the healthcare industry gives the tech giant too much power in the healthcare sector and raises a host of concerns around privacy and the future of Medicare, critics say. “This sounds petrifying,” said Polly.
- The U.S. approved 800,000 doses of the monkeypox vaccine.
- Brazil and Spain reported their first monkeypox deaths.
- Pfizer board member warned that the U.S. lacks a federal infrastructure capable of dealing with public health emergencies such as monkeypox. “I am not concerned about monkeypox,” said Megan.
- A federal judge in Ohio blocked the military’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate nationwide for Air Force, Space Force and Air National Guard service members who requested religious exemptions. “This is a major potential win,” said Megan.
- In Canada, the government quietly opened the booking site for children between 6 months and 4 years of age to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Ontario parents expressed excitement and relief. “Insane stuff going on here,” said Polly.
- New research is looking at incorporating a coronavirus antigen into an MMR vaccine for children. “Who on earth comes up with these concoctions,” said Polly.
- Malaria vaccine could reduce deaths by 75%, according to clinical trials. Symptoms of malaria include fever and headache. “This is crazy,” said Megan.
- A new review suggests that Tylenol use raises the risk of autism in children.
- It appears Bill Gates may be engaged in the same kind of wealth-shift scheme as BlackRock and other investment groups that are buying up single-family homes and turning them into rentals. “It is exhausting,” said Polly
