This week, Megan Redshaw, Children’s Health Defense staff attorney and reporter for The Defender, and Polly Tommey, co-producer of “Vaxxed,” covered the latest headlines on COVID-19, Big Pharma and other issues, including news that a 9-year-old has died two weeks after receiving the Pfizer vaccine.

Polly and Megan also discussed that 43% of U.S. parents of children under 5 will “definitely not” give their child a COVID-19 vaccine amid concerns the vaccine poses a greater risk to kids than the virus.

Plus, by authorizing COVID-19 vaccines for young children on the basis of shoddy data, public health officials proved they’re in the business of protecting Big Pharma’s profits, not people.

Also on tap this week: Chicago’s NorthShore University HealthSystem agreed to a $10.3 million settlement in the nation’s first class action lawsuit for healthcare workers over a COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

More of this week’s highlights:

  • An official with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) used data from a flawed preprint study that exaggerated the risk of death for children from COVID-19 in her presentations to advisors who were responsible for recommending Pfizer and Moderna’s vaccines for infants and young children.
  • Biden tested positive for COVID-19 again in a “rebound case” after taking the Paxlovid anti-viral drug. “This drug clearly does not work,” said Megan.
  • A university student “dies of joy” after discovering he had passed his final university exams. “These headlines are ridiculous,” said Polly.
  • A new study says that showering in cold water can lead to heart attacks. “You can’t make this up,” said Polly.
  • People injured by COVID-19 vaccines may not realize it, but the pretense that post-vaccination injuries and deaths are just “sad coincidences” is a trick as old as vaccination itself.
  • Top officials are being pressured by the Biden administration to approve the COVID-19 booster vaccine timeline.
  • Amazon’s latest proposed acquisition in the healthcare industry gives the tech giant too much power in the healthcare sector and raises a host of concerns around privacy and the future of Medicare, critics say. “This sounds petrifying,” said Polly.
  • The U.S. approved 800,000 doses of the monkeypox vaccine.
  • Brazil and Spain reported their first monkeypox deaths.
  • Pfizer board member warned that the U.S. lacks a federal infrastructure capable of dealing with public health emergencies such as monkeypox. “I am not concerned about monkeypox,” said Megan.
  • A federal judge in Ohio blocked the military’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate nationwide for Air Force, Space Force and Air National Guard service members who requested religious exemptions. “This is a major potential win,” said Megan.
  • In Canada, the government quietly opened the booking site for children between 6 months and 4 years of age to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Ontario parents expressed excitement and relief. “Insane stuff going on here,” said Polly.
  • New research is looking at incorporating a coronavirus antigen into an MMR vaccine for children. “Who on earth comes up with these concoctions,” said Polly.
  • Malaria vaccine could reduce deaths by 75%, according to clinical trials. Symptoms of malaria include fever and headache. “This is crazy,” said Megan.
  • A new review suggests that Tylenol use raises the risk of autism in children.
  • It appears Bill Gates may be engaged in the same kind of wealth-shift scheme as BlackRock and other investment groups that are buying up single-family homes and turning them into rentals. “It is exhausting,” said Polly
