Mike Capuzzo is a reporter for The Defender. He is a former prize-winning reporter for The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Miami Herald, a science writer, and a regional magazine founding editor and publisher who has won more than 200 journalism awards as a writer, editor and publisher. A journalism graduate of Northwestern University with an MFA in nonfiction writing from Goucher College, he was nominated by his publishers six times for the Pulitzer Prize including for his New York Times nonfiction bestsellers “Close to Shore: The Terrifying Shark Attacks of 1916” and “The Murder Room: The Heirs of Sherlock Holmes Gather to Solve the World's Most Perplexing Cold Cases.”
